Do you support our proposal for the Pirongia - Ngaroto - Te Awamutu Cycleway?
We prefer option 2 with a cost of $ $4,363,456 with $3,275,832 external funding.
We'd need more landowners to grant public access across their properties and it
would require more external fundraising, but the wellbeing aspects of option two
far outweigh options one and three. We also think it’s important that cyclists
can enjoy the environment and experience cultural and heritage sites.

We want to hear your thoughts on the proposed options! Select your preference from the options below:
Do you support our proposal for Urban mobility?
We prefer option 2 with a cost of $ $10,920,120 with $5,569,261 funding from Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
We think the health benefits for residents, reduced air pollution, reduced traffic congestion,
improved road safety, and better connectivity in our towns far outweighs the status quo.
Do you support our proposal for Lake Te Koo Utu?
We prefer option 2. Option 2, funded on the condition we could sell land assets or
raise other external funds, would enable us to partner with mana whenua to acknowledge and share their connection to Lake Te Koo Utu.
Do you support our proposal for Memorial park Te Awamutu?
We prefer option 2. Option 2, funded on the condition we could sell land assets,
would meet mana whenua, RSA and our community’s aspirations for
Memorial Park and bring this park to its full potential.
Do you support our proposal for a Resource recovery centre?
We prefer option 3, where we could develop a resource recovery centre in Waipā on an existing site with a
building already in place. It would cost $2.1 million to purchase or lease an existing site and prepare it
for the service. Operating costs would be $649,605. $1.4 million of external funding is expected.
We've made changes to our Significance and Engagement Policy, including the addition of two new financial thresholds and some changes to what Council considers to be its significant assets.
What do you think?
Well that covers the topics in this year’s Long Term Plan. If you have any comments or ideas about what you want to happen in the next ten years for Waipā, don’t forget to tell us below.
